I just bought a parakeet 2 days ago. Last night she was out, very happily perching on my finger and running around on the carpet. I saw no visible trauma or injury occur, but suddenly she stuck her left wing out and would not put it back. The wing shakes and quivers. I don't see any blood although there is a feather upturned on the back of that wing. She is perching and eating, and seems calm and content. But when I take her out of her cage, she continues extending that wing while it shakes. It doesn't seem to settle back into place like it's supposed to. Could this be a sprain or a broken wing? Is it just a misplaced feather? I'm not sure whether I should take her to the vet, or if there's something I should be doing other than waiting for it to go away. Please help settle some new mom jitters. thanks!
