Also, i was thinking of getting it a little friend from its cage back at the store. I don't want it to be unhappy and it doesn't seem pleased at all right now. Am I being too hasty? Should I just wait it out and see if he mellows out? : I just got a Parakeet a few days ago, but every time I come near the cage, it slims up and gets really scared. I don't want to try to force it to let me hold it because I don't want to traumatize it, but I don't know how to make it get used to me. I sit and talk to it and I whistle, but it just sits silently on its perch and glares. Any tips for a new bird owner?
