They can learn from listening to their father, a different bird, a tape, etc, but it is also possible for them to learn when they are all by themselves. Just keep them in a dark quiet spot so they don't have to worry about anything moving (Because the minute they see anything move, besides another bird, they'll stop.) If you want them to sing, any continuing loud noise, like a vacuum, will start them singing like crazy. I find that playing music (any kind) will encourage them to sing.
