seeking "godparent" for my budgie

Greetings,

I am seeking a bird-lover who would be interested in serving the role of, for lack of a better word,
"godparent" for my sweet, tame and loving American budgie, Tovi. What I mean is that I am looking for
someone who would be willing and able to adopt Tovi if something happened to me or I was for some
reason unable to care for him.

Tovi is 10 months old, flighted, very tame, extremely loving, speaks both budgie and English (favorite
phrases include, "I love you a LOT" and "sweet chickenlips bird" and "such a beautiful bird") and has
tested negative for psittacosis and polyoma. He is also physically gorgeous, light blue and white with
white wings. I got him from a local breeder at the age of six weeks old and his birthday is 10/20/00. Tovi
is the kind of bird who reminds us why budgies make such great companions. In fact, when I first got
him, I was so sad about the death of my last beloved budgie that I thought I would never open my heart
fully to another bird -- but Tovi persisted in loving me with such exuberance that he pried open every door
I thought was shut for good.

Ideally, I am looking for someone who is in reasonable driving distance of where I live (between Santa
Cruz and Monterey, CA), who would be able to spend some amount of quality time with Tovi daily, who
would promise not to ever clip his wings, who has a lot of love to give (and is open to being loved a whole lot by a bird), who knows about budgies and bird health, and who would enjoy having this amazingly
sweet and love-filled little guy in their lives in the event that they had to adopt him. I am not interested in someone taking him to be a breeder in an aviary. He is a human-bonded pet. I do think he might enjoy being around other pet budgies as well as
humans, though (but he hasn't yet had this experience).
